ESCR . MEETINGS . 2007
Scientific Meeting ESCR 2007, Rome/Italy

Measurement of myocardial perfusion in acute myocardial infarction

Focussing on the latest developments in the field of cardiac radiology, ESCR - held from October 18 to 20 in Rome, IT - was delighted to welcome Europe's most respected cardiac radiologists, as well as a great number of highly involved young radiologists.

"With more than 470 delegates from 44 countries, this year's Annual Meeting of ESCR exceeded - once more - all expectations", so Mr Henrik Silber, Executive Director of ESCR. This amount of delegates shows an increase of more than 50% in comparison to last year's ESCR Scientific Meeting in Athens. Additionally, the abstract submission rate has as well even increased by 70%, compared to last year's statistics.

For the first time in the history of ESCR, the meeting was extended to 2.5 days, and featured 2 new 'Meet the experts' sessions, which were enormously well accepted by all the participants including Professor Borut Marincek, Local Organiser of ESCR 2005 in Zurich and Member of the ESR Executive Council, who described the session as "outrageously vivid and fascinating".

Recapitulatory, it can definitely be said that the ESCR 2007 has even been more successful than ever before.

Going even farther south for next year's meeting, ESCR 2008 will be held from October 16-18 in Porto, PT - aiming to continue this successful development in Europe's cardiac radiology to a yet unknown dimension.

According to Professor Marincek, it can be said, that the ESCR 2008 in Porto will be "a meeting organised by Prof.Dr. Isabel Ramos - again another expert in the field of Cardiac Imaging". Assisting her with this challenging business is Dr. António Madureira - Secretary General of the Portuguese Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine - with great connections to the whole Iberian Peninsula.

For the first time, the ESCR will feature a Young Paper Presenter Programme in 2008, which enables a limited amount of accepted proffered paper presenters under the age of 35 not only to participate in the congress with the fee waived, but also to have free accommodation. The abstract submission for proffered papers in planned to go on-line on February 1, 2008.

The Scientific Programme will be published on-line in January 2008.

Another innovation is going to happen in the field of ESCR membership 2008: From December 1, 2007 onwards, a new membership application form will be available on-line, indicating reduced prices especially residents will benefit from.
