Welcome by ESCR 2017 Meeting President
Dear Colleagues, Dear ESCR Members, Dear Friends,
On behalf of ESCR and the Local Organising Committee, I am pleased and honoured to welcome you to the next 2017 Congress of the European Society of Cardiovascular Radiology in Milan.
You will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in one of the most dynamic, most engaging and most scientifically advanced cardiac radiologic programme in the world. In addition to the state-of-the-art scientific and cutting-edge technology, ESCR 2017 will provide you with unique opportunities to share ideas, to network with peers, and to become inspired by leaders in the field.
Imaging in arrhythmias and heart failure are the two major themes for ESCR 2017. Most of the scientific and educational programme will be focused on these two topics and will be addressed by several discussants using a multidisciplinary approach with different sub-specialities, such as cardiology, arrhythmology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiac surgery. In fact, ESCR has strongly advocated for clinical involvement.
The opening session of the Congress will include discussion on cost-effective analysis in cardiac radiology; other prominent highlights of the meeting will be myocardial ischemia, cardiomyopathy, inflammation and atherosclerosis. Guidelines in cardiac imaging will also be a highlight of the 2017 programme.
As already performed during the last meetings, there will be important joint sessions with ESTI, ASCI, EuroCMR and NASCI, thus underlining the growing role of our society in the European and International Cardiovascular Scientific Network.
The Congress will also offer an up- to- date educational programme, presented by experts in cardiovascular imaging, dedicated for those who want to learn more on basic and advanced cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. Due to the growing importance of clinical and vascular themes in our society, sessions dedicated to basic cardiologic issues and to vascular innovations will be also proposed in the educational programme.
Moreover, we are going to develop more of the third line track with innovative hands-on workshops and appealing case reading sessions.
The Congress is back in Italy, after being held in Rome ten years ago. It is with great pleasure to invite all of you to Milan, the biggest industrial city of Italy. Milan is a magnetic point for designers, artists, photographers and models. Milan's ancient city centre, with it's high rise buildings and new districts, draws people from all over the world to see this city of glamour. Milan is currently one of the best conference destinations in Europe, offering excellent facilities, exceptional flights connections, and a wealth of quality accommodations. Boasting ample space and an easy-to-navigate layout, the San Raffaele Hospital and Congress Centre is ideal for our needs. Not only can be easily reached by metro and bus services, but it also has a few hotels in the immediate vicinity.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Milan.
With my best wishes,
Francesco De Cobelli
Meeting President 2017
